open
 
And we
are quite
awoken
 
what will
we do
then?
 
Wring our
hands
sing with
bands
 
Or turn
perhaps
to Zen?

Our day
is done
we had
our fun
 
Now we slump
like
fuddled (wo)men
 
‘Twas always
clear
we were maimed
by fear
 
‘Twas never
beyond
our ken
 
We did naught
went straight
to pot
 
moved
neither
word nor pen

We are many
they are few
this we always
knew
 
But in disdain
not a little
insane
resisted
every cue

When our tale
is told
and truth’s bought
and sold
 
What will
history
say?
 
That like
knaves
and fools
and timid
tools
 
Did cede
our birthright
away
