Letter from Dystopia

I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever…

Thomas Jefferson

Hello there, my fellow humans!
How do you fare?

have you caught our bug yet?
or do you not dare?

*

Do you spend all your monies
on missiles and on guns

and are you more warlike
than all of Attila’s Huns

do you lock up black and brown
like it’s going out of style

keeping poor folk down
in severe durance vile

*

Do you claim democracy
whilst being its antipode

do you augment liberty
by gun and by sword

do you rule an empire
by force and by fraud

chanting very piously
one nation under god

do you war on helpless
the weak and the low

the mills of fate be grinding
though they oft grind slow

*

If there be an Auditor
what might S/He say

reckonings are just as sure
as every dog its day

so my fellow beings
ape not Our Ways

cause we live in Dystopia
the Muse of these lays
