Lucubrations

There is a void
in the
western** heart

that
genocide
cannot fill

abiding
of the
testament

thou shalt
kill and kill
and kill

*

A million
here
a million
there

omniciding
every
where

ever feigning
high
pretence

of legal
moral
innocence

spiting the
world
in the eye

justice
deferred
sine die

*

Breaching
idylls
in plainest
sight

that only
mighty might
is right

how they
launder
evil deeds

how they
sow
demonic seeds

here for
lucre
there for
gain

all
wrapt up
in legerdemain

immured in
stupor
inured to
pain

*

Reft of
spirit
devoid
soul

what epiphany
could
make them
whole?

*
Drenched
the
earth

with
dystrophy

wrenched
of all
philanthropy

in
rational
insanity

steeped
in strut
of vanity

void
all
humanity

lording
over land
and sea

larded
in
hypocrisy

waving banners
fulsome
high

that actions
do so fain
deny

breaking
every
moral bond

breaching
every
human tie

*

Tolling knell
of the human
race

in corybantic
disgrace

of soul numbing
artifice

as devolution
looms
apace

*

Why fear
that we be
on the brink

when the human
is all
but extinct?

*

I hear the
ancient prophets
roar

in stark
tropes
and semaphore

rotting as
to the rotten
core

this is the End
can be
no more

*

If pride
goeth
before a fall

what doth
hubris
go before?

*

And the
seers cry

in deafening
score

This can be
No More

** I libel not the hoi polloi, only their eternal oppressors.
