Ode to the Kin of Abraham

Ye have dived the darkest deep
and dared the seamless skies
have scaled the dizzy Heights
in Truth that no Fantasy belies
Ye have raced the planet’s rim
mined metals on the moon
builded winged fly machines
making us star-gazers swoon
Ye have split the spinful atom
dug canals from sea to sea
forded waters assayed lands
past Infidel C0uriosity
Ye mariners of desert lands
sailors of the dry main
soldiers of the One Spoken God
who fear and fate disdain
Children of ancient Abraham
this world is all but yours
we march to your defeating drum
as your sprawling might endures
Patriarchs of Antiquity
intrepid paladins of yore
if the Other half’s been silent
it may not be so any more

Your fulsome feuds have brokered war
brought this planet to the brink
fratricide is gone too far
it were time to pause and think
Pantheist and Aboriginal
children of those Other gods
owe not tenancy to You

Time to heal your breaches
time to set aside the sword
even if faith but little teaches
best to bury Old Discord

Children of mighty Abraham
Ye be children now no more
bestow some tribal chivalry
on us barbarians at the door
