They reneged on reason
they reneged on rhyme
their vagrant philosophy
turned on a dime

in idle trespasses
scorched this good earth
in unholy blight
made wealth of our dearth

dream now of races
to Mars and beyond
heaven’s hallowed spaces
new worlds to (con)found

In humor ever restless
forayed here and there
antres below water
castles in air

laid siege to all history
sanctioned an age
rapture of spirit
enchained in a cage

Occidental despots
with demotic urges
in depths and in hollows
in sallow ardor surges

greed allays greed
thus fare profanities
of an Unwholesome Creed

for peace and for calm
when will cease jousting
with their own inner storm?

the Clock is at Midnight
the Hour is at Hand
pray They find Solace –
or Ill Fares the Land

* As I say it: forgive them NOT because they not what they do, but precisely because they know full well what what they do.
