In Praise of Woman, by Rajani Kanth
In Praise of Woman, by Rajani Kanth
When nature wreaked
her worldly forge
Not seeking to
unhand
Her secret sibylline
envisionings
Within celestial
plan
She weaved a plume
Of ether
Wrought of
Northern lights –
mingled scents of’
Araby
Spice of Indic
land
Next infused
an urn of tears
culled from
A maple tree
Tinctures of sweet
ambrosia
Stole from the
honey bee
Surveyed her ornate
tour de force
needed else
besides
She gilt the lily
Glistered gold –
let nurture, free,
abide
heart of gentle
baby roe
nestling in the
braes
care of a watchful
dolphin
as her calf ,
heedless, plays
courage of afric
lioness
peace from the
playful fawn
drams of diurnal
patience drawn
of dogged beaver
clan
thence was art
met with entropy
mortal with
immortal span
pride, spirit,
solace:
nay, the demi-urge –
of this family
of (wo)Man.
