Rachel Corrie* Remembered

In a world

where tyrants

reign

where toadies

simper

and humbugs

feign

stood

unmoved

against

the murd’ring

swain

*

Not in

selfie

self-defense

nor as

talking

heads

just making

sense

she took

it that one

step ahead

head held

high

run over

dead

*

Today the

tyrant

murders

free

from

river

to the

cruel sea

singing

paeans

to

tyranny

*

Toadies

humbugs

shills galore

rotten to

their

rotting core

still cheerlead

the

killing spree

in rank

and raw

hypocrisy

*

She stood

alone

that fateful

day

stood

alone

yet

blazed

the way

to rightful

right another’s

wrong

her young life

given

free away

to pause

the dun

and noxious

sway

of a base

murd’rous

throng

*

And so she

fell

to the Iron

Heel

crushed

alive

by murd’rous

zeal

of wounds

that

now

would

never

heal

*

Today

thousands

meet

her

self-same

fate

young and

old

by barb’rous

hate

fall like

flies

without a

name

to

register

the savage

shame

*

They

fall

huddled

she fell

alone

shuddered

within

a mortal

moan

fell silent

like

a stooping

stone

*

When the

land

is

once more

free

as it

shall

and will

be

free of

molten

savagery

let them

raise

a

monument

perhaps

a beauteous

flowering

tree?

to her

ineffable

gallantry

maid of

honor

and

destiny

the

peerless

fearless

daring

caring

hushed

and crushed
