Lovers in
languid anguish
creep

whilst men
work
and women
weep

a
sybaritic
leisure class

letting mundane
matters
pass

*

Sultans
of misty
satrapies

of largesse
and
philanthropies

letting
all the world
dismiss

in search
of secret
sylvan bliss

*

Socialists
of the
open heart

devoid
guile
and free
of art

love is
that
one preserve

scrape
and serve

*

Where hollowness
all fulsome
fares

and loss
the spirit
fondly bears

*

Nature’s
own insanity

to quash our
native vanity?

or is it
revolt in
dun despair

of a life
riven

reft
and bare?

*

Where delusion
is
a species-need

love supplies
a heady
mead

to a world
of plebeian

of the
debonair!
